The geodatabase is the foundation from which your data model is built. It acts as a storage container to house your collection of geographic datasets. It also offers an array of tools and data design features to help you model real-world features and behavior.

There are three types of geodatabases supported in ArcGIS Pro: file, mobile, and enterprise geodatabases.

File geodatabase

The file geodatabase (.gdb) is the default geodatabase for your ArcGIS Pro projects. It exists as a collection of files in a folder on disk that store spatial and nonspatial data. It is a simple and scalable solution that can be used across operating systems. They can also be compressed to a read-only format to reduce storage requirements.
